WICHITA - Newman University Head Women's Basketball Coach Jaime Green has signed Bobbi Coleman, the program announced Tuesday. Coleman will join the Jets after averaging double figures at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Neb., last season.
At Northeast, Coleman averaged 13.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.2 steals per game while shooting 50 percent from long range before suffering a leg injury in the eighth game of the 2009-10 season.
"Bobbi is a very versatile guard who can score in a number of ways," Northeast Head Coach Matt Svehla said. "She can get to the basket, shoot the three, and pull up off the dribble. She is a great kid, a great teammate, and a joy to coach. I look for her to do big things at Newman."
Prior to NCC, Coleman played one season at Cameron University in Lawton, Okla., where she averaged seven points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. Coleman played in 16 games for the Aggies that season, and made three starts.
A Phoenix, Ariz. native, Coleman played at Washington High School, where she led the Rams to three Arizona 4A2 State Championships.
"Bobbi is a great addition to our program," Green said. "She is a vital piece to our turnaround, and will play a major role for us in the coming years."
Coleman plans to major in biology, with career goals of becoming a Physical Therapist.
