Wichita - Newman University Athletics Director
Vic Trilli has announced the hiring of
Tim Hanson as the Sports Information Director, effective January 1, 2013. Hanson will serve as the primary media contact for all 16 Newman athletic programs.

Tim Hanson will be a great fit here at Newman and we are extremely excited about what he brings in regards to social media and every aspect of sports information. He will be welcomed with open arms to the Newman University Community,” Trilli said.
Hanson comes to Newman from Fort Hays State where he was a graduate assistant in the Sports Information Department. While at FHSU, Hanson served as the primary media contact for women's basketball, volleyball, cross country and wrestling in addition to men's and women's soccer. He assisted Sport Information Director Ryan Prickett in the media efforts for all other sports at Fort Hays State.
“I'm very excited to join the Newman Jets family,” Hanson said. “I am really honored to be joining Newman University, and I am excited to work with the administration, coaches, and student-athletes at NU.”
Prior to FHSU, Hanson was a sports information intern at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he served as the primary media contact for men's hockey and baseball, while also covering men's lacrosse during their Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) National Championship run.
Before his time at DU, Hanson served as a public relations intern for the Dow Corning Tennis Classic, a United States Tennis Association (USTA) pro circuit event in Midland, Mich.
Hanson is a graduate of Central Michigan University where he earned a bachelor's degree in sport management. During his time at CMU, Hanson served as the Arts & Entertainment editor for Grand Central Magazine, an online student publication, and worked previously as a sports reporter for the magazine.
A native of Greenville, Mich., Hanson is currently working towards a master's degree in sport administration at FHSU.
