Women's Tennis Inks Taylor Jordan

WICHITA - Taylor Jordan, a 2012 Oklahoma Class 4A State Champion, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play women's tennis at Newman University, Director of Tennis Shella Augspurger announced Monday. Jordan won the 2012 State Championship with Midway High School this season.

Jordan made her senior season a memorable one. As a Midway High School senior, Jordan took an unblemished 25-0 record into state tournament play, and won her first 4A State No. 1 Singles Championship with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Tulsa Metro Christian's Reynolds Chew. Jordan finished as the state runner-up in her freshman year, and finished no worse than fourth in the state tournament through her high school career.

Additionally, Jordan proved a force to be reckoned with on the regional level, winning 4A Regional Championships in three of her four high school years.

Off the court, Jordan was active in speech and debate, and led MHS to a state runner-up finish during the 2009-10 school year. She also played fast-pitch softball as a freshman, and participated in FCA and band, and was a tutor for the Midway Public Schools Elementary After School Program. In addition, she was a four-year member of the Superintendant's Honor Roll.
