Skinner encountered tremendous success with the basketball program and department as a whole as the men's basketball coach and athletic director from 1972-80. Skinner also started the baseball program, hiring Paul Sanagorski as coach, with the program gaining consistent national prominence. Skinner was also inducted in 2008 as coach of the 77-78 basketball team.
