Kirstie Symon has been named the Heartland Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of April 8-14, announced today (April 15) by the Heartland Conference. Symon is the first Lady Jet to earn the award this season.
The Gold Coast, Australia native went 4-0 in her matches this past weekend. Against No. 37-ranked Northeastern State on Friday (April 12), Symon picked up two of the three NU wins. Symon upset Ivana Belejova, who is ranked No. 7 in the Central Region. She rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 singles match. In No. 1 doubles Symon and
Taylor Jordan defeated NSU's No. 19-ranked doubles team by an 8-4 score. Symon then won two matches on Senior Day against Fort Hays State. At No. 1 singles she cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 win, and teamed up with Jordan, Symon got an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Symon and the rest of the women's tennis team is in action this weekend at the Heartland Conference Tournament.
