Named the Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year...Opened her collegiate career with a 13:03 two mile time at the Emporia State Dual meet in Emporia, Kan. ...Followed that time with a season-best 5K time of 19:26 at the ESU Planet Sub Invitational in Emporia, Kan. ..Posted a personal-best 6K time of 23:20 and finished fourth at the Heartland Conference Championship race in Wichita, Kan., to claim All-Heartland Conference honors.
Before Newman:
Ran high school cross country for coach Brian Wetta at Goddard High School in Goddard, Kan. ...Ran a personal best two mile time of 11:54.
