Newman saw a two-point halftime deficit baloon into a 26-point loss in their opening round game against the hosting Regis Rangers. Consolation Game: Newman 73, College of Saint Mary: 54

Newman put up 44 points in the first half for their most dominant first-half outing of the season, and cruised to a 73-54 win over The College of Saint Mary in Saturday's consolation game. The Jets hit 15 of their 35 attempts from the field in the first half, and drained five three-pointers, while limiting the Flames to just eight field goals in the first half. Both teams shot 25 percent in the second half, but the Jets had established too much of a lead.

Rainey Nickel's 17 points led the Jets in their first win of the season. Nickel was also one of five Jets to grab five rebounds in the game. Monique Pitts added 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Melanie Brockleman finished with 10 points as the only other Jet in double figures. Newman won the battle of the boards decisively, out-rebounding CSM 58-36.

Newman will play one more game before the Thanksgiving holiday, taking on the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes Tuesday evening in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at Fugate Gymnasium.
