-- Jets Head West For Midweek Match-up --

Notes
-Newman will face its second-consecutive undefeated opponent Wednesday when they travel to Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan., to take on the Fort Hays State Tigers. FHSU is 5-0 this season after picking up two wins last weekend at the Colorado Mines Thanksgiving Classic in Golden, Colo.

-The Jets got bit by the injury bug during last weekend's trip to Wayne State (Neb.). Freshman guard Melanie Brockleman suffered a knee injury in the final minutes of the first half, and junior guard Monique Pitts suffered a concussion in the same game. Brockleman will not play in Wednesday's game, and Pitts is listed as day-to-day.

-Fort Hays State has dominated the all-time FHSU-Newman series, owning a commanding 9-0 lead. Newman has never lost a game to the Tigers by less than 16 points, while FHSU's average margin of victory in those nine games is 29 points.

-Tonight is the first meeting between these two teams since 2006-07, when the Tigers picked up an 86-52 win over the Jets inside Gross Memorial Coliseum.

-Both teams took on NCAA Div. I opponents in pre-season exhibition contests. FHSU opened with a loss to No. 1 Kansas, 107-68, in Lawrence, while the Jets fell 81-69 to cross-town opponent Wichita State, before dropping a 77-58 decision four days later at pre-season Sun Belt favorite North Texas.

-Fort Hays State leads the all-time series 29-8, with Newman's last win coming in a 75-69 decision in 1981. The Tigers won last season's meeting, defeating the Jets 82-66 on Jan. 2 inside Fugate Gymnasium. FHSU has now won 15-straight over the Jets.

-Newman was picked to finish fifth in the Heartland Conference by conference coaches and sports information directors. Fort Hays State was tabbed sixth by a similar group in the MIAA.
