TULSA, Okla.- Junior Laryssa Ferreira remained undefeated in Heartland Conference singles play, but couldn't get any help from the rest of the team as the Newman women's tennis team fell to Dallas Baptist, 8-1, Friday afternoon at Jenks High School in Tulsa, Okla.

Ferreira continued her singles dominance for the Jets' only win in the dual match, by winning the No. 1 singles position over DBU's Natalie Holmes 6-2, 6-1. In doubles competition, Ferreira and teammate Emily Gerber played well, but fell short to the Patroits' duo of Natalie Holmes and Hannah Innes in a 9-7 decision.

Unfortunately, the good news stopped there for Newman, as the Patriots swept the remaining matches en route to the 8-1 win.

The loss drops the Jets to 6-10 overall and 1-4 in Heartland Conference play. Newman returns to action on Wednesday, as they travel to Hesston to take on the Hesston College Larks in a 1 p.m. match.
