BENTONVILLE, Ark.- The Newman men's tennis team was defeated in action against Harding on Friday, 7-2.

In singles play, Igor Ozegovic and Chris Copenhaver were overcome by Kittibodee Singnil and Jon Mark Rowden, 7-6, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively. Evgeniy Kim pushed his luck in his No. 3 bout against Alex Ford, before falling 3-6, 6-1, and 7-5. Kevin Klein notched the first victory for the Jets, overpowering Henrique Ruiz 7-6, 7-5. Harding's Helio Hashimoto defeated Jarred Ferris 6-1, 6-2, before Jeff Wherrit fell in three-sets to Adam Edwards 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, to round out singles competition.

Harding took its momentum from singles action into doubles play. Singnil and Rowden defeated Ozegovic and Klein, 8-3 to open up the matches. Ferris and Copenhaver scored the only doubles win for the Jets, soundly defeating Ford and McReynolds, 8-6. Ruiz and Hashimoto closed out the match with an 8-3 win over Kim and Wherritt.
