WICHITA- The Newman women's tennis team will look for its third-straight match play victory when non-conference rival Fort Hays State visits Wichita. Doubles play is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. at Riverside Park.
The Jets come into Friday's match with an 11-7 overall record, and are 3-1 at home this season. Newman has been led in singles play by Kirstie Simon, who owns a 17-7 record, and is 1-1 against regionally ranked opponents.
Katie Klausmeyer has won four consecutive matches, after starting the season 0-1. The doubles team of
Hillary Hicks and
Courtney Dold are 10-7 on the season, and 6-7 in dual matches.
Fort Hays State has been up and down this season, but comes to Wichita with a 7-9 record on the season. The Tigers are 3-4 in MIAA play, but are 4-2 when playing on the road. Caitlyn Wark owns the top singles record with a 16-4 mark on the season. Melissa Skovira and Brittney Ricci are not far behind with 13-6 and 12-6 records, respectively.
