Lady Jets Fall to Eagles 58-45

Box Score WICHITA, Kan. -- The Newman women's basketball team dropped their third straight game to Oklahoma Christian University 58-45 this Thursday inside Fugate Gymnasium.  Kianna Flannagan led the Jets with 13 points.

Alexandra Ciabattoni took the first basket of the evening with a lay-up at the 19:41 mark in the first half.  Oklahoma Christian fired back quickly, and a jumper from Katy O'steen made the score 13-7 Eagles with 11:47 remaining until half time.  Oklahoma Christian continued to strengthen their lead and took their largest 15-point lead of the half after a three-pointer from Logan McKee with five minutes remaining in the first half.  Kianna Flannagan drained one from downtown to cut the Eagles' lead to seven making the score 27-20 Oklahoma Christian headed into the locker rooms.

Newman began to find their footing in the second half and remained within five of the Eagles with 12:49 remaining in the game.  The Jets fought against time, but it wasn't enough as Oklahoma Christian glided to a 58-45 victory.

Kianna Flannagan led the Jets with 13 points on the night. Alexandra Ciabattoni joined her in the double digits with 12 points and six rebonds.  Bobbi Coleman had three steals, while Kianna Flannagan added four assists.

As a team, Newman shot 32.7 percent (16-49) from the field and 20.8 percent (5-24) from behind the arc.  Oklahoma Christian outrebounded the Jets 38-33.  

With the loss, the Jets move to 6-13 (1-5 Heartland).  Newman returns to action February 7 when they travel to Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
