Box Score WICHITA – The Newman women's basketball team fell, 66-44, to Texas A&M International on Thursday (Dec. 5) at Fugate Gymnasium. The Lady Jets dropped to 4-5 and 2-2 in the Heartland Conference. The Dustdevils moved to 6-1 and 2-0 in the Heartland Conference.
With the Lady Jets trailing by three at 13-10 with 8:27 left in the first half, TAMIU ended the first half on a 25-9 run to take a 38-19 halftime advantage.
In the second half, the Lady Jets cut the deficit to 16 points twice, but couldn't get any closer in the 66-44 loss.
Alexandra Ciabattoni led NU with 15 points and seven rebounds. She was the only Lady Jet in double figures.

Cierra Tjaden each added eight points.
NU struggled from the field, shooting 28.3 percent. The Lady Jets were 2-of-23 (8.7 percent) from 3-point range. NU went 8-of-16 (50 percent) from the free-throw line.
TAMIU's Malika Jackson totaled a double-double with game highs of 24 points, 14 rebounds and four steals. She scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the first half. Jackson was 9-of-13 from the field.
The Lady Jets welcome St. Mary's to Fugate Gymnasium on Saturday (Dec. 7) for a 1 p.m. game.
