AUSTIN, Texas – The Newman men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to St. Edward's on Sunday (March 17) in the Jets second Heartland Conference match of the season. Newman dropped to 5-9 and 0-2 in the Heartland Conference.
 
The Jets picked up one win in singles competition and one win in doubles competition. In doubles, Nei Does Santos and Freddy Sanchez teamed up to win a tight 9-8 decision over the Hilltoppers at No. 1 doubles.
 
Newman also picked up a win at No. 6 singles. Jeff Wherritt won a close 8-7 match over Ivan Vaz.
 
The Jets are in action again on Monday (March 18) against St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas. The match starts at 2 p.m.
