AUSTIN, Texas – No. 22-ranked St Edward's snapped Newman women's tennis' seven-match winning streak with a 7-2 win over the Lady Jets on Sunday (March 17). With the loss, NU drops to 11-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Heartland Conference.
 
The Lady Jets picked up two wins in single competition over two regionally ranked opponents. At No. 1 singles, Kirstie Symon defeated Alexandra Khadzhayan, who is No. 12 in the South Central Region Rankings, in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Lisa Pleskan also got a win over a regionally ranked Hilltopper. Pleskan won 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 11-9, over No. 18 Paige Rachel in No. 2 singles.
 
Those two wins were the only victories the Lady Jets claimed over the Hilltoppers. SEU won all three doubles matches and won the bottom four singles matches.
 
The Lady Jets are back in action on Monday (March 18) against No. 48-ranked St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas.
