SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Newman women's tennis team fell to No. 48 St. Mary's on Monday (March 18) by a 9-0 score. The Lady Jets dropped to 11-3 and 1-2 in the Heartland Conference.
 
Lisa Pleskan took her match at No. 2 singles to a third set, but fell 6-1 in the third. She won 6-4 in the second set and dropped set one, 6-1.
 
All other singles matches were lost in straight sets. No. 1 Kirstie Symon lost 6-2, 6-3 to Mariana Rong, who is No. 28 in the ITA Natonal singles rankings. Courtney Dold went down 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Taylor Jordan lost 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, Carissa Villaflor fell 6-1, 6-1, and at No. 6 singles, Jessica Brown lost 6-2, 6-2.
 
The Lady Jets went down in all three doubles matches. Symon and Jordan lost 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Pleskan and Villaflor fell 8-3, and Alajandra Hernandez and Dold dropped an 8-3 match at No. 3 doubles.
 
Newman hits the court again on Tuesday (March 19) against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
