SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Newman women's tennis team defeated Evangel College, 5-2, on Thursday (March 28) in the Lady Jets first match of the Evangel Invite. The Lady Jets improved to 13-3 on the season.
 
NU started the match with a sweep of the three double matches. Kirstie Symon and Taylor Jordan won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, Lisa Pleskan and Carissa Villaflor teamed up to win 8-3 at No. 2 doubles and Courtney Dold and Jessica Brown won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
 
Due to time, only four of the six singles matches finished with the two teams splitting those matches 2-2. Pleskan won 6-2 and 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Jordan won 6-2 and 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
 
The Lady Jets are back in action on Friday (March 29) against Kansas Wesleyan.
