Lady Jets Go 2-0 at Evangel Invite, Defeat KWU, 8-1, on Friday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Newman women's tennis downed Kansas Wesleyan, 8-1, to go 2-0 at the Evangel Invite over the weekend. NU has now won three-straight matches and are 14-3 overall.
 
On Friday (March 29) against KWU, the Lady Jets won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches. The five singles wins came in straight sets.
 
In the three doubles matches, NU only lost three games. At No. 1 doubles, Kirstie Symon and Taylor Jordan won 8-2. Lisa Pleskan and Carissa Villaflor got a 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles, and at No. 3 doubles, Courtney Dold and Anna Le won 8-1.
 
Symon was victorious at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-3. At No. 2 singles, Pleskan got a 6-2, 6-0 win. Villaflor won at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-1. In the No. 5 singles match, Jessica Brown picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Katie Klausmeyer got the 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
 
Saturday's match (March 30) against Graceland University was canceled so the Lady Jets are next in action on April 5 against Arkansas-Fort Smith in Tulsa, Okla.
