WICHITA – The Newman women's basketball team takes on St. Mary's in the semifinals of the Heartland Conference Tournament on Friday (March 8) at 7:30 p.m. All games of the Women's Basketball Heartland Conference Tournament will be played at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas.
Newman and St. Mary's split the regular season series with the road team winning each time. In the first meeting at Fugate Gymnasium, the Rattlers needed overtime to knock of the Lady Jets, 58-68 on Jan. 12. In San Antonio, NU freshman
Alexandra Ciabattoni hit a basket in the paint with 7 seconds remaining to lift the Lady Jets to a 55-53 win.
The Lady Jets play the nightcap of the semifinals game. No. 1 UTPB, which won the Heartland Conference regular season title, and No. 4 St. Edward's kick off the tournament with their semifinals game scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
