WICHITA – Playing in their final home match, the Lady Jets women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Fort Hays State on Saturday (April 13) at Riverside. NU improved to 17-5 on the season.
 
The Lady Jets started the match with three dominating wins in doubles competition. Kirstie Symon and Taylor Jordan won, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles. And in the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches, NU rolled to 8-1 victories. Lisa Pleskan and Carissa Villaflor got the win at No. 2 doubles, and Courtney Dold and Alajandra Hernandez were victorious at No. 3 doubles.
 
Newman continued to control the match, sweeping all six single matches. Symon pulled away and won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Pleskan won a tough tiebreaker, 12-10, to win 2-6, 6-2, 12-10. Dold got a 6-1, 7-6 (7-0) victory at No. 3 singles, and Jordan used scores of 6-2, 6-2 to win at No. 4 singles. Villaflor lost only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles, and senior Jessica Brown was victorious 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
 
The Lady Jets travel to Emporia State on Tuesday (April 16) for a 3 p.m. match against the Hornets in Emporia, Kan.
