Women’s Tennis Defeats UAFS, 5-4, Wins Fourth Straight

TULSA, Okla. – Newman women's tennis ran its winning streak to four matches with a 5-4 upset win over Arkansas-Fort Smith, which is No. 10 in the ITA South Central rankings. The Lady Jets upped their record to 15-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Heartland Conference.
 
Lisa Pleskan and Carissa Villaflor gave the Lady Jets their only victory in doubles competition, winning a close match at No. 2 doubles. The duo won 9-8 on a 7-4 tiebreaker.
 
NU got the top two wins in singles play. Kirstie Symon rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, and Pleskan got a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles. Taylor Jordan picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles. At No. 6 singles, Jessica Brown won 7-5, 6-3 to help NU clinch the 5-4 victory.
 
The Lady Jets are in action twice tomorrow (April 6). First, NU takes on Northwest Missouri State at 9 a.m. and then plays Dallas Baptist at 2 p.m. Both matches take place in Tulsa, Okla.
