TULSA, Okla. – The Newman women's tennis team went 1-1 on its final day in Tulsa, Okla. This morning, NU won 5-3 against Northwest Missouri State, which is ranked No. 4 in the Central Region, and then the Lady Jets fell to No. 9-ranked in the South Central Region Dallas Baptist, 7-2. Newman is now 16-4 on the season and 2-3 in the Heartland Conference.
The Lady Jets knocked off the Bearcats, 5-3, winning four of their five matches in singles play.
No. 1 singles player
Kirstie Symon won in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 over Camila Quesada, who is ranked No. 4 in the Central Region. The Lady Jets took the No. 4-6 single matches. At No. 4 singles
Taylor Jordan got a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Gisela Font. Alajandra Hernandez won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles against Stephanie Mannix. Carissa Vallaflor won 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles match.
Lisa Pleskan and Villaflor picked up the only NU win in doubles. The duo won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
Against Dallas Bapitst, the Lady Jets fell 7-2 to the ninth-ranked Patriots.
Courtney Dold and Hernandez picked up the only Lady Jet win at double as the pair was victorious, 8-1.
Jessica Brown won at No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-3 for NU's other victory.
The Lady Jets are back in action on April 16 at Emporia State.
