NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – The Newman women's tennis team shutdown Bethel College, 9-0, on Tuesday (Sept. 17). The Lady Jets didn't drop a single set on their way to the impressive victory.
 
The duo of Kirstie Symon and Taylor Jordan won at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, over Bethel's team of Steph Shogren and Breanna Honer. At the No. 2 doubles spot, Lisa Pleskan and Hillary Hicks defeated BC's Allie Hipp and Madelyn Weaver, 8-4. Carissa Villaflor and Courtney Dold picked up a 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles against Rachel Shogren and Alyssa Scheuerman.
 
Symon got a straight set victory 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles against Honer. Pleskan only dropped two games on her way to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles against Hipp. In No. 3 singles, Jordan won 6-2, 6-3 over Steph Shogren.
 
Hicks dropped only one game in her match, winning 6-0, 6-1 against Scheuerman at No. 4 singles. Dold won 8-2 at No. 5 singles against Rachel Shogren, and at No. 6 singles Ariana Raga blanked Abby Viele. 

The Lady Jets return home for a match against Empora State on Saturday (Sept. 21) at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Park.
