WICHITA – The Newman men's tennis team started the spring season with a 9-0 victory over Baker University on Friday (Feb. 7) at East Genesis.
 
In doubles, the team of Nei Dos Santos and Eduardo Santos got an 8-2 win at No. 1. In the No. 2 doubles match, Evgeniy Kim and Max Pyle won 8-3. Freddy Sanchez and Miguel Bendito picked up a 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Jets dominated in the singles competition. Dos Santos won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, and Santos cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Kim rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, and Sanchez won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, Bendito won 6-4, 6-4, and Pyle got a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
 
NU returns to action tomorrow (Feb. 8) at Rockhurst in Kansas City, Mo.
