WICHITA – The Newman women's tennis team started its spring season with a 9-0 win over Barker on Friday (Feb. 7) at West Genesis.
 
Playing at No. 1 doubles for the first time this season, Lisa Pleskan and Carissa Villaflor rolled to an 8-1 win. Kirstie Symon and Taylor Jordan got an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles, and Arianna Raga and Maria Hernandez won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Lady Jets dominated in singles, winning each court in straight sets. Pleskan shut out Megan Henry at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0. Jordan won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. In the No. 3 singles match, Hillary Hicks got a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Courtney Dold won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Raga and Villaflor both cruised in the No. 5 and 6 matches as both won 6-0, 6-0.
 
NU will be in action again tomorrow (Feb. 8) at Rockhurst in Kansas City, Mo. The match starts at 11 a.m.
