KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Newman women's tennis team defeated Rockhurst, 6-3, on Saturday (Feb. 8) at the Kansas City Country Club. The Lady Jets improved to 2-0 in the spring and 6-0 so far this season.
 
NU started strong, sweeping all three doubles matches. Lisa Pleskan and Carissa Villaflor won 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles match. Taylor Jordan and Kirstie Symon got an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, and Courtney Dold and Hillary Hicks made it three wins with a 8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles, the two teams split the six matches. Jordan won in a very close No. 2 singles match 2-6, 7-5 (15-13). Dold won 4-6, 6-4 (11-9) at No. 4 singles, and Villaflor picked up a straight set 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
 
The Lady Jets take on East Central on Feb. 14 in Wichita.
