EDMOND, Okla. – The Newman women's tennis team defeated No. 42 Central Oklahoma, 6-3, on Friday (March 14) to remain perfect on the season at 11-0.
The Lady Jets took control, sweeping the doubles competition. The No. 1 doubles team of
Kirstie Symon and
Taylor Jordan came back from a 4-1 deficit to win 8-5.
Carissa Villaflor and
Lisa Pleskan got a 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Hilary Hicks and
Ariana Raga picked up a 8-1 win.
The two teams split the six singles courts. Raga was down 5-1 at No. 5 singles and came back to win the next six games to win set one, 7-5. She carried the momentum into the next set, winning 6-0, to take the match. No. 12-ranked in the South Central Region,
Kirstie Symon won 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Villaflor got a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles.
In the three losses, all three Lady Jets fell in a third set tiebreaker.
NU travels to Midwestern State tomorrow for a dual at 12 p.m. in Wichita Falls, Texas.
