PUEBLO, Colo. – The Newman women's tennis team moved to 14-0 on the season with a 9-0 victory over CSU-Pueblo on Friday (March 21).
Three wins in doubles gave NU a commanding 3-0 lead in the match.
Taylor Jordan and
Kirstie Symon cruised to an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
Lisa Pleskan and
Carissa Villaflor won, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles. In the No. 3 doubles match,
Hillary Hicks and
Maria Hernandez were victorious, 8-1.
The Lady Jets swept the singles competition to get the 9-0 win. Symon dominated at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Pleskan was just as dominating at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win. At No. 3 singles, Jordan was the only Lady Jet pushed to a third set as she won 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 10-6. Hicks pulled out to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.
Ariana Raga won convincingly 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and Villaflor got a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
NU moved to 14-0 on the season, including 10-0 in the spring. The Lady Jets take on Colorado Christian tomorrow (March 22) at 1 p.m.
