DALLAS – The Newman men's tennis team came up just short against No. 21 St. Mary's, 5-4, on Friday (March 28) at L.B Houston Tennis Center. The Jets dropped to 7-8 on the season and 0-2 in the Heartland Conference.
 
The Jets took two of the three doubles matches. Nei Dos Santos and Eduardo Santos won a tight 9-8 (7-5) match at No.1 doubles. NU also got a win at No. 2 doubles as Max Pyle and Freddy Sanchez got a 8-6 victory.
 
Needing to split the singles competition to get the victory, NU won only two courts, falling 5-4. Santos got a victory at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, Evgeniy Kim was victorious 6-7, 6-0, 6-2.
 
The Jets are back in action tomorrow (March 29) against Dallas Baptist.
