DALLAS – The Newman men's tennis team picked up two wins on Saturday (March 29). The Jets won, 9-0, over Heartland Conference foe, Dallas Baptist, and then won, 5-4, against Collin County Community College. NU moved to 9-8 and 1-2 in the Heartland Conference.

Results

The Jets dominated DBU, winning every singles match in straight sets. NU started by sweeping all three doubles courts. Nei Dos Santos and Eduardo Santos got an 8-0 shutout at No. 1 doubles. Max Pyle and Freddy Sanchez picked up an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles. In the No. 3 doubles match, Evgeniy Kim and Miguel Bendito blanked DBU, 8-0.
 
NU continued to cruise in singles competition. Santos shutout DBU at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0. In the No. 2 singles match, Dos Santos won 6-0, 6-2. Kim blanked DBU 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles match, and Sanchez won by the same 6-0, 6-0 score at No. 4 singles. In No. 5 singles, Bendito was victorious 6-1, 6-0. Pyle got a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.

Winning two of three doubles matches was the difference in the 5-4 victory over Collin County CC. Pyle and Sanchez got one of the doubles win, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles. Kim and Bendito won, 9-8, at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Jets got wins at No. 3, 4 and 6 singles. Kim won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. In the No. 4 singles match, Sanchez was victorious 7-5, 6-2. Pyle won via tiebreaker at No. 6 singles 2-6, 6-4, 16-12.
 
The Jets are back in action on April 4 against St. Edward's in Moore, Okla.
