DALLAS – The Newman women's tennis team got back on track with two wins on Saturday (March 29). The Lady Jets won, 6-3, over Heartland Conference foe, Dallas Baptist, and then won, 7-2, against Collin County Community College. NU moved to 16-1 and 2-1 in the Heartland Conference.
NU 6, DBU 3
Results
The Lady Jets won two doubles courts and four of the six singles court in a 6-3 win over DBU, NU's first-ever victory over the Patriots.
NU started with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles.
Lisa Pleskan and
Carissa Villaflor won, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles.
Hillary Hicks and
Courtney Dold shutout DBU for an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles,
Kirstie Symon picked up a victory 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 1. The Lady Jets got wins at No. 4-6 singles. Hicks won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. At No. 5 singles,
Courtney Dold won 6-1, 6-2. In the No. 6 singles match, Villaflor was victorious 6-3, 6-0.
NU 7, CCCC 2
Results
NU pulled away for the 7-2 win at Collin County CC. The Lady Jets took two of the three doubles courts. Pleskan and Villaflor won at No. 2 doubles, 8-5. At No. 3 doubles, Hicks and Dold once again got a 8-0 victory.
At singles, NU won five of the six courts. Symon pulled away for a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles.
Taylor Jordan won in a third set tiebreaker 6-2, 1-6, 10-5. Dold was victorious at No. 4 singles by a 6-0, 6-3 score.
Ariana Raga won in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
Maria Hernandez got a shutout win, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
NU returns to the court on April 4 against St. Edward's in Moore, Okla. The match starts at 2 p.m.
