Women's Tennis Gets Back on Track with 8-1 Win

WICHITA – Newman women's tennis got back on track with an 8-1 victory over McPherson College on Thursday (April 10) at Riverside Park. The Lady Jets won all of their eight matches in convincing fashion and improved to 19-2 on the season with the win.
 
The Lady Jets made quick work of the Bulldogs in doubles competition. Lisa Pleskan and Carissa Villaflor pulled away for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Playing at No. 2 doubles, Kirstie Symon and Jordan Taylor cruised to an 8-2 victory. NU made it a clean sweep in doubles with an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles by Hillary Hicks and Courtney Dold.
 
NU went on to win five of the six singles courts—all in dominating straight sets. Symon rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. In No. 2 singles, Pleskan won by the same 6-2, 6-0 score. In wins at No. 4-6, the Lady Jets did not drop a single game, winning all three by the score of 6-0, 6-0. Dold got a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Playing at No. 5 singles, Ariana Raga pulled away for the 6-0, 6-0 victory. In the No. 6 singles match, Maria Hernandez won 6-0, 6-0.
 
The Lady Jets travel to Cameron on Saturday (April 12) for an 11 a.m. match against Cameron in Lawton, Okla.
