Women’s Tennis Rallies to Defeat UTPB, 6-3

MOORE, Okla. – After falling behind 3-1, the Newman women's tennis team won the final five courts to win, 6-3, over Texas-Permian Basin on Saturday (April 5). With their fourth straight win, the Lady Jets improved to 18-1 on the season.
 
The Lady Jets, who clinched a spot in the Heartland Conference Tournament on Friday with their first-ever victory over St. Edward's, were down 3-1 after doubles competition and one singles court. Lisa Pleskan and Carissa Villaflor picked up the one win with an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles.
 
NU went on to win the final five courts, all in straight sets. Kirstie Symon pulled away for a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Pleskan got a 6-2, 6-0 victory. In the No. 3 singles match, Taylor Jordan was victorious 6-3, 6-4. Hillary Hicks continued the hot streak as she won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Courtney Dold got a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles.
 
The Lady Jets end conference play with a match against UA-Fort Smith on Sunday (April 6) at 9 a.m. NU is currently 4-1 in the conference and looking to clinch the No. 2 seed in the tournament with a victory.
