Box ScoreEMPORIA, Kan. – Depth ended up being the difference as the Newman women's tennis team won 5-4 over Emporia State on Tuesday (Sept. 16) at Emporia High School. NU dominated the singles matches No. 4-6 and won two of the three doubles matches.
Kate Bugayenko and
Ariana Raga teamed up at No. 2 doubles and got an 8-2 win.
Hillary Hicks and
Courtney Dold won a very close match at No. 3 doubles by an 8-7 score (7-3).
In singles play, NU got wins at No. 4-6. Dold rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, Raga pulled away for a 6-0, 6-2 victory, and
Carissa Villaflor cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
The Lady Jets are next in action on Friday (Sept. 19) against Truman at 2 p.m. in Emporia, Kan.
