WICHITA – The Newman women's basketball team welcomes Oklahoma Christian to Fugate Gymnasium tonight (Feb. 12) for its annual pink game. Live stats, video and audio on KGSO 1410 AM will be available for the contest.

The Jets will be looking to end a two-game skid and get back on track in Heartland Conference play. NU is currently 7-14 and 4-9 in the Heartland Conference. The Jets have won three of their last four home games, including a win over St. Mary's on Jan. 31 in their last home contest. NU pulled away for a 61-45 win in that game. Since that victory, the Jets lost at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Feb. 5 and at Lubbock Christian on Feb. 7. NU scored only 33 points in the loss at LCU with freshman Eledria Franklin scoring a team-high nine points. Marina Ramon Lopez added eight points and six rebounds in 14 minutes. Brianna Caldwell is the leading scoring for the Jets at 9.9 points per game.

The Eagles are currently 9-12 and 6-7 in the Heartland Conference. OC has won five of their last seven games; however, four of those victories came at home. Their most recent win was a road victory at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Feb. 7 by the score of 81-66. Their stretch of wins started with a 60-52 victory over NU on Jan. 15. Since then the Eagles defeated Rogers State (76-67), St. Mary's (55-54), Texas A&M International and OPSU. In the win over the Aggies, McKenzie Stanford scored 26 points in the second half to finish with a game-high 30 points. Sydney Hill added 25 points. Stanford leads the team in scoring at 16.9 points and rebounding at 6.0 per game. Hill adds 11.5 points per game.

In their first meeting of the season, the Eagles defeated the Jets, 60-52, in Oklahoma City on Jan. 15. Stanford totaled a game-high 17 points, and Hill tallied 16 points. NU was led by DeKendra Ledoux with 14 points, but she shot 4-of-20 from the field. DaJah Thompson pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

Tonight's game is the first of three straight home contests for NU. After tonight's game, the Jets welcome UA Fort Smith to Fugate Gymnasium next Thursday (Feb. 19) for a 5:30 p.m. tip. Live stats, video and audio will be available.
