SALINA, Kan. – The Newman men's tennis team got back on track with a 9-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan on Tuesday (March 31). The Jets moved to 15-6 on the season.
NU started by winning all three of the doubles matches.
Evgeniy Kim and
Max Pyle teamed up to get an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
Jose Enrique Coiras and
Diego Rojo Fernandez rolled to an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. In the No. 3 doubles match,
Jeff Wherritt and
Zurab Tskhakaia got an 8-2 win.
Playing at No. 1 singles, Kim pulled out to a 6-4, 6-0 win. In the No. 2 singles match, Fernandez cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Coiras dominated in a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. The No. 4 singles match went in Pyle's favor as he got a 6-2, 6-3 win. Wherritt rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, and Tskhakaia was just as impressive with his 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
The Jets return home for two matches. The first is against Bethel College on Thursday (April 2) at 4 p.m. at Riverside Park.
