HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State ended the Newman softball team's four game winning streak with a doubleheader sweep of the Jets on Tuesday (March 31) at Tiger Stadium. FHSU won the games by 9-3 and 5-0 scores.

The Tigers pulled out to an early 6-0 lead in the first four innings and hung on for the 9-3 win in game one.
FHSU started with two runs in the first inning. A double and single plated the two runs. In the second, the Tigers added two more runs to go up 4-0. The home team again used a single and a double to bring in both runs.
In the fourth inning, the Tigers hit a solo home run to increase the FHSU edge to 5-0. A double to right center upped the advantage to 6-0.
The Jets scored their three runs in the fifth inning. The first run scored on a
Jensen Cromer double to left field to plate both
Madison Bish and
Kassidy Furr. Cromer came in to score on an error by the FHSU catcher. With the three runs, the Jets trailed by only three at 6-3.
FHSU increased the lead back to six at 9-3 with three runs in the fifth inning. An infield single scored the first run, and a two-run homer to left field made it 9-3.
Furr and Bish both went 2-for-3 with one run scored.
Taylor Mannis went 2-for-4.

The Tigers scored runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings to get the 5-0 win in game two.
In the first, the first run came home on a single up to middle to put the Tigers up 1-0 in the first. The lead doubled to 2-0 with a solo homer in the fourth inning.
FHSU added three runs in the fourth inning. A triple down the line plated the first run for a 3-0 score. A double to left made it 4-0, and another double to left field upped the advantage to 5-0.
Mikayla Medbery went 2-for-3 in game two. The Jets totaled five hits.
Kelsey Jones got the start in the circle, going 6 innings and allowing five runs on eight hits with one strikeout.
The Jets are back in action on April 10-11 at Oklahoma Panhandle State in Goodwell, Okla.
