The Newman men's tennis team made the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Tournament, announced tonight (April 28) by the NCAA. The Jets are the No. 4 seed in the South Central Region.

NU will play the No. 5-seeded Aggies of Cameron on Saturday (May 2) at 2 p.m. in the NCAA Tournament. The South Central Region is hosted by No. 1 seed Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The No. 2 seed is Western New Mexico of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and Heartland Conference Champion St. Edward's is the No. 3 seed. Those two teams play in the first round. Â

The Jets and Aggies played during the regular season on April 4 in Wichita. Cameron won by a 6-3 score at Riverside Park.

The Jets went 17-10 this season and 3-2 in the Heartland Conference. In the Heartland Conference Tournament, NU fell in the championship, 5-3, to St. Edward's in a tight match. The Jets defeated St. Mary's, 5-2, in the semifinals of the conference tournament to help them make the NCAA Tournament.

For the season, the Jets have three wins over nationally ranked opponents.Â
