WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman women's basketball team heads to the frozen tundra of Alaska over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend to play in the North Star Invitational in Fairbanks, Alaska.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (3-2) are on a current three-game winning streak heading into this weekend's action. Newman hosted Central Christian (Mo.) last Monday, winning 87-18 over the Saints. The Jets then headed south down to Denton, Texas for the Pioneer Classic where they faced two Lone Star teams. Newman faced off against Texas Woman's Saturday and won 69-58 before taking on Midwestern State Sunday to close out the tournament, walking away with a 67-52 victory.

SCOUTING ALASKA-FAIRBANKS (Thursday, 6 p.m.)
The Nanooks (3-1) traveled to Pueblo, Colorado for a tournament on Friday and Saturday. Alaska-Fairbanks took on the host team Colorado State-Pueblo but lost the first game of the tournament in overtime 91-87. The Nanooks finished up their weekend by taking on Western State, beating them 72-55 to split the weekend games.

The Roadrunners (3-1) were in Portland, Oregon on Friday and Saturday for the Concordia Classic. Metro State took on Saint Martin's to start the tournament, winning 59-38 in a low scoring contest. The Roadrunners closed out the tournament by taking on the host team Concordia University, beating them 70-55.

The Warriors (1-3) hosted two games last week, beginning with the Academy of Art on Wednesday winning 67-61 over the Urban Knights. Stanislaus State then took on Notre Dame De Namur on Friday, losing 64-48 to close out its second week of play.

-The Jets will need to be wary of Alaska Fairbanks ability to take advantage of opportunities from the free throw line, the Nanooks lead in the nation in free throws made (88) and free throw percentage (88.9%).
