DALLAS — Getting back to its lopsided victories that helped propel it on its current five-match winning streak, the Newman women's tennis team earned an 8-1 win over Colorado Mesa Tuesday morning on a neutral court at Dallas Baptist.
The Jets (9-2) were pushed in individual sets, but only lost two on the day as they pushed by the Mavericks (10-8) with relative ease, sweeping all three doubles points to start the morning and not looking back from there.
Kate Bugayenko, Vanessa Brill, Kateryna Stoianova, Ariana Raga and Marit Lemmens all won in straight sets in the singles competition, and Raga and Brill, Bugayenko and Stoianova, and Tamar Tskhakaia and Emily Wise all teamed up for comfortable wins in doubles.
Newman takes on a pair of tough matchups this weekend, heading to East Central on Friday and Oklahoma Baptist Saturday.
