IN THE HISTORY BOOKS

This will be the eighth trip to the league championship in nine years for the Jets, and the seventh straight year they'll compete in the postseason. Newman is still looking for its first victory in the Heartland tournament.

NOTES

-St. Mary's won its fourth straight regular-season title by going undefeated in conference play. The Rattlers finished the season off with a convincing win over St. Edward's last week to clinch the title. St. Mary's only losses this season came to Division I Texas-Arlington and two of the top 10 Division II teams in the country.

-The Hilltoppers won their other four Heartland matches, but it wasn't easy, getting victories of 5-4, 6-3 and 7-2. Newman fell by the 6-3 score, with a number of close individual matches.

-Dallas Baptist enters the tournament on a three-match winning streak to close the regular season. That came after a tough three-match losing streak, with all three defeats coming to teams ranked in the top 20.
