ARLINGTON, Texas — Despite a number of close matches, the Newman men's tennis team fell to No. 33 St. Edward's in the second of a brutal two-day stretch against Heartland Conference foes Saturday afternoon.
The Jets (6-10, 2-2 Heartland) picked up their only win against the Hilltoppers (9-10, 4-0 Heartland) early in the day, as Diego Rojo Fernandez and Andre Ebinal teamed up for an 8-5 victory at No. 3 singles.
St. Edward's took control by sweeping all six singles matches, although Eduardo Santos at No. 2 and Max Pyle at No. 5 pushed their matches out to a third set.
The Jets return to action April 17, when they head north to face No. 25 Washburn.
