Newman Ends Long Break With Road Games

WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman women's basketball team is eager to get back out on the court after almost a two week layoff between games by traveling to Texas A&M International Thursday evening and St. Mary's Saturday afternoon to complete the first of two weekend adventures.

St. Mary's (13-3, 5-1 Heartland) are on a current two-game winning streak. Before taking on the Jets, St. Mary's hosts Oklahoma Panhandle State Thursday evening. The last game for the Rattlers came against Texas A&M International at home, which they won in dominating fashion by a score of 69-33.

The Rattlers hold a 14-7 all-time series record over Newman that dates back to the 2007-08 season. The Jets will be looking for their first win against St. Mary's since January 31, 2015 when Newman took down the Rattlers 61-45 at home.

NOTES

-The Jets are on a two game winning streak with back-to-back conference wins against Oklahoma Panhandle State on Jan. 7 and Rogers State on Jan. 2.

-Newman is still first in the conference in scoring defense, only allowing 55.5 points per game.

-The Jets also have the best turnover margin in the conference at 6.2.
