WICHITA, Kan. – After earning its first conference victory of the season on Monday, the Newman women's basketball team dives back into conference play against Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday afternoon at Fugate Gymnasium.
 
SCOUTING NEWMAN
 
The Jets (11-5, 1-3 Heartland) went on their first conference roadrip of the season by traveling to Arkansas-Fort Smith Saturday and Rogers State Monday. Newman dropped its first game to the Lions by a score of 79-62 but rebounded by taking down the Hillcats 74-61 to complete the trip.

The Aggies (1-11, 0-4 Heartland) took the same path as the Jets but played Rogers State Saturday and Arkansas-Fort Smith Monday which was reverse of Newman's schedule. Oklahoma Panhandle State dropped its first game to the Hillcats 54-50 and fell 78-35 to the Lions to finish out its roadtrip.

-After four conference games this season DeGrate is still near the top in scoring for the Heartland Conference by averaging 15 points per game, which is second in the conference.
 
-Newman as a team gets after it defensively by leading the conference in scoring defense, only allowing 55.3 points per game.
 
-The Jets also lead the conference in forced turnovers, averaging 20.6 takeaways per game, while holding the best turnover margin in the conference at 5.94 as well.
