WICHITA, Kan. — Coming off a big upset of Emporia State Monday, the Newman women's basketball team continues its busy schedule to start the season, heading to the Parrish Hotels Thanksgiving Classic this weekend at Washburn, where it will face off against nonconference foes Truman State and St. Cloud State.

The Jets (5-2) followed up a tough weekend of close games against MIAA foes by turning in its most complete effort of the season in a 74-66 victory over No. 11 Emporia State Monday night at Fugate Gymnasium.

Truman State (2-1) popped Missouri Southern by a 67-31 score Saturday to earn its second win of the season. The Bulldogs, who were picked second in the West Division of the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the league's preseason poll, will have played just one game in the past 11 days by the time Friday's game tips off.
