WICHITA, Kan. —The Newman women's basketball team opens up Heartland Conference play with a matchup against St. Edward's Thursday and Oklahoma Christian Saturday on the road. The Jets finish up a tough part of their early nonconference schedule now the team will be looking to make a run in the Heartland.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Jets (6-4, 0-0 Heartland) finished up its early nonconference with a matchup with Washburn Tuesday, the Jets were able to come out with a 52-45 victory after a second-half push that led to a comeback. The Jets finish two games above .500 going into conference play Thursday.

The Eagles (1-5, 0-0) Heartland are coming off a 1-1 record Friday and Saturday, traveling to San Angelo, Texas to take on Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State. Friday the Eagles beat the Javelinas 86-66, Saturday the team took on Angelo State looking to ride that momentum but fell short losing to the Rams 85-70. The Eagles enter conference play with a record of 1-5.
