Jets Looking To Keep Momentum With Nonconference Schedule

WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman women's basketball team will be back in action Saturday as they will be playing host to Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Jets are looking to use this short nonconference schedule to get ready for the remainder of conference play.

SCOUTING NEWMAN

The Jets (8-4) are coming off of two early conference wins, the first coming last Thursday when the team hosted St. Edwards last year's defending champion. The Jets were looking at a deficit early in the fourth quarter, but the team was able to turn it around and come away with the victory 45-43. Saturday the Jets traveled to Oklahoma City as they took on Oklahoma Christian, the Jets were looking to ride the momentum on the road and they did coming away with a 91-76 victory over the Eagles.

SCOUTING THE RANGERS

The Rangers (5-4) are coming off a 1-2 record this weekend, first last Thursday the team travel to Searcy, Arkansas to take on the Bisons of Harding University and the Rangers would struggle a little bit and the Bisons would take this game 93-63. Saturday the Rangers traveled to Russellville, Arkansas to take on the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech and the team would struggle again coming away with an 80-45 loss. Tuesday the Rangers the Rangers traveled to Oklahoma City to take on the Eagles of Oklahoma Christian and would turn it around in the nonconference matchup winning 98-84.

-The Jets start 2-0 in the conference for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

-Alexander is now fourth in the conference in scoring (16.1).

-The Jets begin a three-game home nonconference schedule before getting back into the bulk of Heartland play.
