Newman Plans To Keep Streak Alive

WICHITA, Kan. – The Newman women's basketball team ventures back out onto the road after hosting two conference games, by traveling down to Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday afternoon to play its lone conference game of the week.
 
SCOUTING NEWMAN
 
The Jets (16-8, 6-6 Heartland) took on Rogers State at home on Feb. 2 and beat the Hillcats 67-59. Newman then played Arkansas-Fort Smith for its Hall of Fame game and won a close fought game 77-76.

SCOUTING OKLAHOM PANHANDLE STATE (Saturday, 1 p.m.)
 
The Aggies (1-19, 0-12 Heartland) are on a bit of a dry spell, currently on a 17 game losing streak with their only win this season coming against Saint Gregory's University on Nov. 18. Oklahoma Panhandle State hosted Arkansas Fort Smith on Feb. 2 and lost 75-60 and then took Rogers State at home on Saturday and fell 59-57.

HISTORY LESSON
 
The Jets hold a 17-2 all-time record over the Aggies dating back to the 2007-08 season. The two teams met earlier this season back on Jan. 7 at Fugate Gymnasium, which Newman won 97-59.
 
NOTES
 
-Newman enters this weekend's game on a current three-game conference winning streak that started on Jan. 30 against Lubbock Christian.
 
-With four games remaining in conference play this season, the Jets have already locked up a spot into the 2017 Heartland Conference Tournament. The tournament seed is still undecided.
 
-Alexander is currently in third place in the conference in scoring at 14.8 points per game.
 
-Newman still leads the conference in turnover margin at 4.5 and forced turnovers per game at 19.3.
