DALLAS — Making its second appearance in the Heartland Conference final in three years, the Newman men's tennis team fell 5-0 to St. Mary's Saturday afternoon at the SMU Tennis Complex.
The No. 47 Jets (10-11) were in for a tough test against the No. 22 Rattlers (17-6), who entered having won nine straight matches.
Playing just until a team clinched the match with five points, St. Mary's got the crucial lead in doubles, winning three close matches. In singles play, Eduardo Santos, Lucas Norbiato and Blake Crawford all won their first set, but the Rattlers clinched the first two singles matches to seal the victory.
