WICHITA, Kan. — The Newman women's basketball team won a physical game Saturday 75-60 over Texas A&M International. The Jets were looking to bounce back after a tough loss Thursday at home, the Jets were able to hold the Dustdevils defensively for the victory.

With 6:45 left in the fourth quarter the Jets (17-9, 8-4 Heartland) were looking to close out the Dustdevils (2-22, 0-10 Heartland). The Jets were able to get stops defensively and the offense continued to move smoothly and with less than 30 seconds left in the gamer to Jets were able to get the victory over Texas A&M International.
How It Happened
-In the first, the Jets were able to get offense from Hannah Alexander, Nia Roberts, and Bria DeGrate while the defense was able to get stops and turnovers limiting the Dustdevils to nine points in the first quarter.
-The second started off well for the Jets as well the offense continued to move and the defense also continued to give the Dustdevils fits. Jazzmen Ortiz was able to give Newman a lift and the lead going into halftime.
-At the start of the second half Newman was looking to get the upper hand on the Dustdevils this would only come if the defense continued to play its role, and they did forcing turnovers, getting steals and limiting transition. At the end of the quarter, the Jets found themselves with a nine-point lead.
-With a 1:10 left in the fourth quarter the Jets were looking to put the game away with free throws and defense. Ortiz was able to hit two clutch free throws giving the Jets a double-digit lead and later the 15 point victory on senior day.
Notes
-Alexander finished with 27 points Saturday the eight time she has score 25+ this season.
-Newman was able to work on the boards winning the second chance point battle 9-5.

The Jets are on the road as they will heading to Lubbock, Texas to take on Lubbock Christian Feb 15 at 6 p.m.
